The corona pandemic has ensured that a number of films have been postponed or even canceled. For action veteran Michael Bay (The Rock, Transformers series), however, it was no obstacle. With his sci-fi hit Songbird, he simply continued to think about the effects of the epidemic and filmed on the empty streets of Los Angeles during lockdown.

On TV: Riverdale star fights a corona dictatorship in the sci-fi thriller
The thriller starring Riverdale actor KJ Apa dares a glimpse into a bleak future in which the fear of Corona has turned the USA into a fascist state. There infected people are held captive in cruel quarantine camps, the rest live under the rule of the military. Nico (Apa) is immune to the virus and works as a bike courier. When his girlfriend Sara (Sofia Carson) threatens to be picked up by the soldiers, he feverishly searches for a solution.
Songbird was the first film shot in Los Angeles during the corona pandemic (via Variety). While other filmmakers waited it out, producer Bay and director Adam Mason just kept going. The result is a film that comments on the psychological and structural effects of the epidemic like no other.
