Awak Kuieri’s first Euroleague season ends in the second group stage. Kuieri’s coach Andrea Mazzon opened up about, among other things, the withdrawal of the Polish team in the middle of the season.
Finnish basketball star Awak I’m walking Reyer Venezia’s Euroleague season ends in the next group stage. The matter was sealed when Venezia lost to Zaragoza at home 39–44. The final result is special, because very rarely do you see such few points in a top basketball game. The shooting accuracy of both game situations remained modest.
Kuier scored a total of 10 points, being the best scorer of the whole match. He particularly impressed with one of his handsome baskets.
With their victory, Zaragoza secured a place in the qualifying round for the top six final tournament.
Venezia coach Andrea Mazzon saw at the post-match press conference the great thing is that Venezia was able to hold Zaragoza, who are at least among the top eight Europeans, to only 44 points. He also pointed out that Zaragoza had 26 turnovers. It is next to the highest reading in the entire Euroleague this season.
Mazzon also returned to the previous events of the Euroleague season and uploaded some hard text. In mid-December, Venezia lost to Zaragoza 56–64 in an away match, although they still led the match until the last quarter.
– If there had been the same refereeing then as now, we would have won the match. In the second period, we didn’t play basketball anymore, Mazzon explained and said that he also understood the pressure caused by the multi-thousand-strong Zaragoza home crowd to the jury.
Venezia’s head coach now said that the reason for the sticky grips was also the long absence from playing. Venezia played in the Italian league last weekend Helmi Tulonen represented the league against Alpo, but the matches before that were several weeks ago before Christmas.
One Euroleague match was missed from Venezia, when Polkowice from Poland left the Euroleague season, citing financial problems. Mazzon recalled that before Christmas they played well in the Euroleague against Zaragoza and European No. 1 team Fenerbache despite defeats.
– I hope that in the future the Euroleague teams cannot withdraw from the most important women’s competition. I think this was very serious for the most important competition in Europe that the team withdraws. I think it’s terrible, Mazzon said.
In her first Euroleague season, Kuier has been one of the best scorers in the entire series. Next week, Venezia will face Fenerbache again in the Euroleague.
