Mbappé acquired 80 percent of the shares of Ligue 2 club SM Caen.
Soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé has bought the majority ownership of Stade Malherbe Caen, which plays in the second tier of France. They reported on it, for example ESPN, Le Parisienand VG.
Mbappé acquired 80 percent of the club’s shares for around 20 million euros. The 25-year-old striker will become the youngest active player to own a European football team.
According to Le Parisien, the French star will become the official main owner by the end of the year.
Mbappé was close to a move to Caen in 2012 and trained with the club, but eventually opted for AS Monaco’s academy. From Monaco, Mbappe headed to PSG, where he became a superstar. He moved to Real Madrid for the coming season.
