A sommelier tasted Lidl wines he loved these three bottles

The wine fair is launched at Lidl. Bottles sold for less than five euros have impressed an expert.

Spring wine fairs have already started, it’s a good time to fill your cellar before summer. If it is not long in order to benefit from the best offers, La Revue du Vin de Francereference in the field, gives some tips to make the most of it. Upstream, you have to look at the bottles already possessed in order to assess your real needs. Driving the catalog of brands also allows you to prepare your purchases and compare prices. It is also recommended to define a budget and think about the place in which store the bottles. Once this process has been applied, you can get started, in moderation of course.

Among the first wine fairs of the season, we find that of Lidl, which started on March 6. For this edition, the brand offers 120 references with a majority of red wines, but also a wide choice of white wines, as well as some rosés and champagnes. Special offers are available on certain cuvées such as “4 purchased, 2 offered” or “5 purchased, an offer”.

To assess its wines, Lidl has again called upon Adam Lapierre, sommelier holder of the Master of Wine since 2013. He has classified certain bottles as “exceptional of character and complexity”, equivalent to a note of at least 90/100. Few references reach such an appreciation. In the Lidl wines catalogthere are 8: a champagne, three whites and four reds. Apart from champagne, they are all offered at less than 8 euros. The wine from Languedoc-Roussillon, Fitou les Cazals, 2022, sold at 6.49 euros obtains the best note with 92/100.

In addition, we note that three of these wines are sold less than 5 euros, and even less than four euros for the last. Among them is again a red wine from Languedoc-Roussillon. The Mas de Malac, Faugères, 2022, is offered with a Flash offer bringing its price to 4.49 euros. It is a flexible and fruity wine, ideal with white or red meat and cheese. Then direction the Rhône valley with the Solis Terra, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Plan de Dieu, 2023. This loose and round wine can be married with game. It is put up for sale with a flash offer at 4.99 euros.

Finally, a white wine harvested the 90/100 note for a price less than four euros (3.69 euros). It can be served as an aperitif as well as with fish or cheese. Soft and fruity, the country of Oc Sauvignon, Jean-Claude Mas, Vermentino, 2023, keeps up to a year, it will therefore be perfect for this summer. This bottle once again puts Languedoc-Roussillon in the spotlight, a region at the heart of the good business of the Lidl wines this year.

Whether or not you take advantage of these offers, watch out for your consumption of wine and alcohol: it is important to keep in mind that alcohol abuse is bad for health and that wine like all other alcohols should be consumed in moderation.
