A Burkinabè soldier and a Volunteer for the defense of the homeland – VDP, civilian auxiliary of the army, in Burkina Faso – were arrested on March 27, 2024, in the north of Côte d’Ivoire. This happened in the Bounkani region, close to the border with Burkina.
A Burkinabè rapid intervention battalion operated in the area as part of the fight against terrorism: it is in this context that a Burkinabè soldier and a VDP would have gone to a market in an Ivorian village, close to the border , indicate a security source and an expert in the area. According to these sources, these two people were armed. They were arrested by Ivorian soldiers.
