Nearly 300,000 residents were without electricity in New York on Tuesday as a powerful spring storm swept across the state with its mass of snow.

It was expected to get some 45 centimeters of snow during Tuesday.

Spring had come a long way in the state when a snowstorm surprised, cutting off tree branches and causing extensive power outages.

A blizzard dodged the city of New York, where heavy rainfall was obtained as water instead of snow.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported several car crashes on Twitter. According to the ministry, speed limits had been lowered on several roads across the state due to bad weather.
