The top match of Italian Serie A football between Fiorentina and Inter was suspended on Sunday. Inter is third in the standings, Fiorentina is fourth.
Fiorentina’s Italian midfielder, 22 years old Edoardo Bove fell to the surface of the field when 16 minutes were left in the match. The match was not in progress at that moment, but the referee was explaining something to the protesting Fiorentina coach.
Suddenly, a huge emergency took over the field. For example, Inter’s head coach Simone Inzaghi immediately rushed to the field to see what happened to the opposing player.
The players turned Bove to his side and formed a ring around Bove as a sight shield.
The emergency personnel put Bove on a stretcher and ran to move him off the field. Bove was carried to the ambulance waiting at the corner of the field.
The referee directed the shocked players off the field. The match was suspended and will not resume on Sunday.
Italian Sky Sports reportsthat Bove was unconscious when he was taken to the Caregg hospital in Florence. According to the media, Bove has since regained consciousness, is able to breathe and his heart is working.
Social media was quickly filled with congratulatory messages for the player from other Serie A clubs, among other things.
Serie A released a short statement:
– The match will not be continued, but will be moved to a time that will be decided later. The match was interrupted when Bove fell to the ground and the situation immediately seemed very serious. The ambulance left to move the player. We await further news.
