Sergio Gonzalez headed the visitors into the lead from a corner kick in the fourth minute of the game, but Barcelona couldn’t find a way to rise in the struggle even to a draw.
The expected goal score for Barcelona was 2.67–0.43 and the goal attempts 20–6, but the shots on goal were recorded only 4–4.
The hosts had three top spots, two of which were wasted by the French right-back Jules Koundewho hit the post once in the second half.
Barcelona, who beat Dortmund away from home in the Champions League last week, have won only one of their last six matches in the Spanish premier league, which is almost a disaster for the big club.
Leganés, who are struggling in the relegation zone, had won three matches before Sunday’s feat.
Despite the loss, Barcelona remained at the top of La Liga with a better goal difference to Atletico Madrid, who have played one less match than the Catalan giants.
Tough-minded Atletico have won their last eleven matches, including all leagues, and are 11th in the Champions League.
