Trump and his team celebrated Cheney’s defeat. The former president called the election result a “total blowout” for the January 6 investigative committee.

Trump wrote on his social media platform that Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself and her behavior.

Cheney will now have to leave Congress when his third term ends in January. He is not expected to leave Capitol Hill quietly.
