A series of absolutely magical functions, which rely on AI, are coming to all smartphones. You will be able to edit your photos in no time!
It’s complicated to take beautiful photos with your smartphone. Firstly, not everyone has a premium device, priced around 1,000 euros. Then comes the problem of image composition. Bad lighting, unwanted elements, ambient noise… So many parameters to take into account over which we have no control. But then, are we condemned to taking basic photos, without any flavor? No, because artificial intelligence can come to our rescue.
Google has developed photo editing tools that rely on AI and make it easy to make complex edits, with simple and intuitive actions, such as repositioning the subject, removing an unsightly element or an annoying character from the frame or further change the sky from gray to blue. And the result is truly stunning! Unfortunately, Google has until now reserved them for its Pixel devices and Google One subscribers. A strong marketing argument! But in a burst of generosity, it finally decided to share it with all users of its Google Photos application, on Android as well as on iOS.
Thus, you will be able to benefit from the functions “Magic retouch”, which allows you to move objects in the photo, “Portrait lighting” which allows you to correct the backlight, “Photo Unblur”, which allows you to deblur a photo, and to the famous “Magic Eraser”. Particularly appreciated, the latter makes it possible to remove an unwanted element from a photo in a few seconds thanks to artificial intelligence which is responsible for recreating pixels from those appearing around the deleted object. You can even incorporate elements that aren’t in the original photo! Your only limit becomes your imagination, and too bad if the shot is no longer very realistic.
However, there are some conditions to respect to take advantage of these new features. First of all, you must have a smartphone running at least iOS 15 or Android 8, and equipped with 3 GB of RAM to be able to use the various Google Photos editing tools. Additionally, the “Magic Retouch” feature requires 4 GB of RAM. Some limits are also in order, since this function will be limited to ten uses per month if you do not pay for a Google One subscription or do not have a Pixel smartphone. It’s always better than nothing!
