The Finnish national team suffers from illness during the last Biathlon World Cup competition weekend in Anterselva before the World Championships. Tero Blacksmith told in Italy after Friday’s sprint race that there are sick cases in Finland’s otherwise small maintenance team. Seppälä himself went to test the skis differently from the norm.
Now the best Finn in Thursday’s speed race tells about his illness Venla Lehtonen. He reached 22nd place.
Lehtonen said on Saturday morning on Instagramthat he suddenly developed a fever on Friday. Lehtonen was already on the sidelines from the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding last week.
– This was a quick return to the games and then back to bed, Lehtonen wrote on his Instagram account.
On Thursday, Lehtone’s body had felt good. He had been looking forward to the weekend’s races. For example, in an interview with , he told how he considers this weekend’s races in Anterselva, i.e. pursuit and relay as his favorite races. Now he feels sad and disappointed.
– Sometimes life is fucked up. Now plan B is being implemented. The plan was to stay in Anterselva and then Martelli with the team. Now I will travel home and recover from illness and focus on getting myself in shape for the World Championships.
The Biathlon World Championships will be held in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, from February 12 to February 23.
