A sad Bridgerton trend is hard to stop before season 4 and that’s a shame

A sad Bridgerton trend is hard to stop before season

Bridgerton dominated the Netflix charts after the release of season 3 and this time impressed with the long-overdue love story of Penelope and Colin as another romantic journey to an alternative Regency England. Regardless of who will become the main character in season 4, however, a sad development: Bridgerton loses family membersThe appearance of siblings in the love stories of their brothers and sisters is enormously important.

Dark side of a Netflix hit: Bridgerton is too successful to keep its stars

The loss of the family began in season 2. After Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) found happiness in love with Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, Simon actor Regé-Jean Page left the seriesto face new cinematic challenges.

From the perspective of a newly minted star who wanted to capitalize on his fame in Hollywood’s upswing, this was understandable. In the plot of Bridgerton, however, Simon’s absence became a painful void that was difficult to explain away. Why did Duke go traveling and not even attend his brother-in-law Anthony’s wedding?

Bridgerton loses first Simon and then Daphne

Phoebe Dynevor held the fort as a family representative in several guest appearances in season 2, before Daphne completely disappeared in season 3 – almost as if Bridgerton was tired of explaining why she always appeared without her husband. Of course, it is not desirable for a star to return to a supporting role after a leading role. But is even a short visit not possible?

A similar fate of disappearance now threatens season 2 dream couple Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley). In season 3, they were allowed to live out their roles as still-in-love spouses and soon-to-be parents. The cameos in three episodes showed how well the Integration of married characters of the series despite changing leading actors. The classic happy ending of a found love can be followed by a “happy life” in the family circle.

Nevertheless, “Kanthony” already built an exit: At the end of season 3, we learn that the happy couple is planning a longer trip to India, which could easily explain their absence in future seasons. The two stars told Elle that they “to give everything” would coordinate their future filming schedules with Bridgerton’s fourth season. But if Jonathan Bailey soon becomes a star in Wicked and Jurassic World 4, the prospects are not rosy for Anthony fans. Even if he is officially the head of the family as Lord.

Netflix’s Bridgerton needs family alongside romance

Of course, Bridgerton is first and foremost a romance series. Thanks to the clever structure of Julia Quinn’s book series *, giving the eight siblings eight individual love stories, the heart-pounding excitement of new relationships will not subside any time soon. The Netflix series has also already sown hidden hints of upcoming romances such as that of Francesca Bridgerton. Nevertheless, it should keep its narrative Mainstay of a loving family Do not underestimate.

The Bridgertons earn our sympathy not only as romantic partners, but also as Siblings who sometimes annoy each other, sometimes help each other and often build each other up. Hardly any scene shows this better than the Paille Maille game in the garden in season 2, where their competition as well as their affection for each other is expressed. They make each other better people. But what happens when the family members suddenly disappear?

The Bridgertons playing Paille-Maille

When Daphne and Simon are absent from Colin and Penelope’s wedding without explanation, we inevitably wonder how deep the Bridgerton family connection really goes. Is the series’ message here that starting your own family means leaving the old family completely? This subliminal doubts about missing characters work against BridgertonFor complete happiness, also on the part of the audience, romantic and family relationships must be equally good.

Bridgerton is crumbling: Can the Netflix series still fill the family holes in season 4?

If it is now confirmed that the Featheringtons will be leaving the series in the coming seasons, Penelope could also lose her family. Recent statements by Benedict actor Luke Thompson to Deadline also raise uneasy omens: Should we expect a rift between the siblings Benedict and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) because they are separated by their “emotional intimacy” to each other so far romantic “stood in the way”?

It would be a mistake to further dissolve the family relationships. If Bridgerton has to reinvent itself in season 4 with regard to the narrative structure of Lady Whistledown, the series must not turn the entire family dynamic upside down in the same breath. Sibling relationships, even with married family members, which have been built up over a long period of time, are a connecting heart of the series that goes beyond the season romances – and should therefore not be thrown overboard.

Bridgerton highlights Gregory (3rd from left) and Hyacinth (1st from right)

There is still hope in the Rise of the young Bridgerton siblings to full-fledged charactersWe have watched Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston) grow up over three seasons, and we can expect them to become new family allies in the future. Likewise, a new love for the widowed mother Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and her new stepfather could provide fuel for tension at home.

But whether this will make us forget the slow loss of family is questionable. Especially if the popularity of the series continues and fans like to watch the Netflix hit all over again. So please pull yourselves together, dear Netflix stars, and honor us with one or two guest appearances even after your happy ending, so that the continue living in the perfect world of Bridgerton can.
