For 20 years, fans have been waiting for a new part of Baldur’s Gate. Now the developers have announced that the role-playing game will appear surprisingly earlier – but only on Steam.

What kind of game is this?

  • With “Baldur’s Gate 3” the latest part of the popular role-playing game series “Baldur’s Gate” will be released in 2023. The game is developed by Larian Studios.
  • The turn-based role-playing game uses an isometric perspective and also offers a co-op mode in which you can play together with up to three friends.
  • The game series “Baldur’s Gate” was launched in the 90s and is an offshoot of “Dungeons and Dragons”.
  • With Baldur’s Gate 2, the last part of the series appeared over 20 years ago. Since then, fans have been waiting for a successor.
  • In June, the developers also gave a video of some insights into the open world of Baldur’s Gate 3. Shortly before, the legendary city that gives the game its name was shown.

    Developers are postponing the Steam release – but forward

    How is the release delayed? Baldur’s Gate 3 was supposed to be released on August 31, 2023 for PC via Steam and PS5.

    However, Larian Studios has now announced that the release of the role-playing game will be postponed. The PC release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is now on August 03, 2023, almost a month earlier than originally planned.

    But while PC players can look forward to the postponement, PS5 players will have to wait almost a week longer. Baldur’s Gate 3 will not be released on Sony’s console until September 6th, 2023.

    We’ve already seen in the past how much fans are expecting the role-playing game, because Baldur’s Gate 3 was already one of the top sellers on Steam in 2021, even though it hadn’t even been released at the time.
