A 66-year-old woman was attacked by a young carpool passenger.
A journey that turns into a nightmare. On December 26, Maryse, 66, left her home in Picardy to go see her children in Toulouse. As usual, it offers to take passengers in carpooling via the Blablacar application. Two men get into the car, one aged 47 sits in the back, the other, aged 19, takes the front seat. During the journey, nothing particularly disturbing happens. It was only upon arrival that the young man sitting in the passenger seat took out a knife and threatened the retiree.
“I screamed while holding his arm to prevent him from stabbing me,” she told The Dispatch. The 66-year-old woman managed to avoid being stabbed. But she “received a rain of blows on the face. I thought he was going to kill me. My nose was broken, I was bleeding everywhere”, according to La Dépêche. The 19-year-old attacker finally managed to take the retiree’s keys and fled in his car.
Maryse was then hospitalized, and had six days of total work interruption. Above all, she was traumatized. “This is the last time I take a man on Blablacar,” she told La Dépêche.
His attacker has since been arrested. He actually made the police’s work easier since he parked in front of his house with the stolen car. He was already known to the police and was placed in pre-trial detention. He had registered on the carpooling application under a false name, and had therefore probably planned his attack. Fortunately, this kind of drama is very rare when carpooling.
