Reporter of the news agency AFP Arma Soldin, 32, has been killed in eastern Ukraine. Soldin, who worked on the video side of a French news agency, was reporting near the town of Chasiv Yar when the shooting started in the area.

Chasiv Jar is located near the town of Bahmut, which has been the focus of fierce fighting for months.

Soldin, who was killed, is a French citizen born in Sarajevo and has reportedly worked for AFP since 2015.

Soldin had been reporting on Russia’s war of aggression from the ground in Ukraine since February 2022. Soldin moved to Ukraine permanently in September of last year and regularly traveled to the front lines of the war.

– The loss of Armani has crushed the entire office, AFP’s board chairman Fabrice Fries comment.

– His death is a gruesome reminder of the risks and dangers that journalists face every day when reporting on the conflict in Ukraine, Fries continues.

Soldin’s death means that 11 journalists, assistants and drivers have been killed while reporting on the war in Ukraine, says the organization Reporters Without Borders.
