Over the past 24 hours, the explosives have been further escalated. On Tuesday, many blasts occurred at various geographical locations, in Helsingborg and Stockholm. Just before midnight the night of Wednesday, something outside an apartment in Upplands-Bro exploded.
– The underlying reasons are that there are people outside Sweden’s borders, who control and coordinate this in different ways, and that there are so many young people, mainly boys, who are prepared to undertake these assignments, says Max Åkervall, Deputy Head of the Stockholm South Police Area, I Morning studio.
According to Åkervall, there is no connection between the perpetrators and the address or the location of the blasts.
– They come from other parts of Sweden. A very high proportion of them are in space from different forms of investments from the social services, ie HVB homes, LVU placements and the like, he says.
– What is, in the midst of this, is gratifying, it is that we grab a lot of these performers.
According to the Deputy Police Chief, as many incidents have been prevented in the near future. A person with a central role has also been arrested.
– In the near future, we have also managed to access one of the driving bombers. That is, those who construct and put together these bombs, says Åkervall.
Justice Minister has called for a meeting
So far this year, there have been some 30 blasts, most in the Stockholm area. According to the police, the causes of the blasts are conflicts in the gang criminal environment but also a sharp increase in extortion cases, against especially traders but also private individuals.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) calls the many explosives “domestic terrorism”.
