A reboot of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive to come?

A reboot of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive to

Present at the G-Star 2022 which ended this weekend, our colleagues from Ruliweb attended a Team Ninja keynote during which the Japanese studio would have confirmed working on a reboot of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive via a slide broadcast at the very end of the conference. Regarding the demanding and bloody beat’em up created by Tomonobu Itagaki (now boss of Apex Game Studios), this is not the first time that we have heard of such a project since director Fumihiko Yasuda (which is also that of the Nioh franchise) has never hidden his desire to bring the license back to center stage, even going so far as to indicate to Video Game Chronicles last September that two options were on the table: entrust the site either to the young shoots of the house, or to an external studio.

Moreover, it could be that it is the second solution which was retained, Nick Baker of XboxEra assuring on Twitter that the reboot of Ninja Gaiden was attributed to PlatinumGames (Astral Chain, Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, Vanquish). Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, but it would be a wise choice, to say the least, given that the studio of Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya is considered one of the benchmarks in terms of action games. For its part, with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (March 3, 2023) and the very ambitious Rise of the Ronin (2024), Team Ninja is not likely to be unemployed and will certainly need all its vital forces.
