Most people may know Joey King as the star of Netflix’s Kissing Booth trilogy. The action hit The Princess by Furie director Le-Van Kiet presents the actress like never before. In the film, she transforms into one deadly fighting machine with action scenes reminiscent of John Wick.
The Princess boasts intense, varied action
The story of the film is quickly outlined. In the middle ages, Joey King plays a princess who is to be forced into marriage with a brutal sociopath (Dominic Cooper). When she refuses, she will locked in a tower and her family taken hostage. To save her, the princess fights her way through the tower and down to her psychopathic fiancé.

It doesn’t need any more action and Joey King’s protagonist doesn’t even get a name in the film. Instead, The Princess shines along constant action sequencesin which the princess fights her way through evil henchmen.
The battles are impressive despite the obviously lower budget successful choreographies and varied ideas. Joey King, who is said to have performed most of the stunts herself, also cuts a really good figure as a merciless fighting machine.
The Princess is only seldom interrupted by unsuccessful CGI backdrops and superfluous flashbacks slowed down, which explain the conspicuously developed martial arts of the main character.
Otherwise Le-Van Kiet’s film is a pretty uncompromising action fest with B-movie tintswhich gets to the point with a running time of around 90 minutes and is entertaining.
