A pregnant woman died in the attack in Rafah but the child survived

A young couple was killed in the bomb attack on Rafah this weekend.
The woman, who was 30 weeks pregnant, was dead when she was taken to the hospital but doctors managed to save the baby from her womb.

On the night of Sunday, Israeli forces carried out new attacks on the city of Rafah in Gaza.

According to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health, 19 people were killed – 14 of them children.

Among other things, a young couple was killed in the bomb attack. The woman, who was 30 weeks pregnant, was dead when she was taken to the hospital.

With an emergency caesarean section, her baby in the womb was saved. But the little girl’s condition is critical.

– The girl has made progress in her state of health, but she is still in the risk zone. The child should have been in the mother’s womb at this time, but she was deprived of that right, says the doctor Dr. Mohammad Salameh to AP.

– She is the daughter of my dear son. I will take care of her. She is my love, my soul. She is a memory of her father. I will take care of her, says the child’s grandmother Ahalam al-Kurdi to AP.

“Aims at women and children only”

According to UN Women about 10,000 women have died as a result of the war in Gaza and about 6,000 of them were mothers. 19,000 children are said to have been separated from their parents or orphaned.

– This is injustice. They only target women and children, says the children’s grandmother Mirvat al-Sakani.

Since the war in Gaza escalated on October 7, 34,000 people have been reported dead, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.
