A popular MMORPG is getting another job and new race that players have wanted for ages

Last weekend the Final Fantasy 14 fan festival took place in Tokyo. Dart producer Naoki Yoshida revealed what new features will be in the upcoming Dawntrail expansion. But a lot has also happened in the rest of the MMORPG world.

The highlights of the week:

  • The 2nd class coming to Final Fantasy 14 with Dawntrail is the Pictomancer. He swings a colorful brush and uses it to spread paint around him. It counts as a mage class. Additionally, the producers announced that female Hrothgar are coming into play.
  • Patch 10.2.5 Seeds of Renewal will be released for World of Warcraft next week. In order to summarize all the important content, Blizzard has created a video that lists the most important innovations.
  • What else has happened? The MMORPG company Nexon had to pay a fine of 8.1 million euros because they made false statements about loot boxes in MapleStory. In a livestream, the team apologized for making this mistake (via MassivelyOP).

Additionally, a court document has surfaced that shows how much players have invested in MapleStory’s loot boxes. A player spent around 200,000 euros in one year.

There was even a new trailer during the Final Fantasy 14 fan festival:

An MMORPG wants to counteract Pay2Win accusations

This happened with the big MMORPGs:

  • World of Warcraft has nerfed an Endoss. This means that smaller groups now also have the opportunity to lay the boss Fyrakk.
  • Black Desert Online distributes horses and powerful items for console players, as MMORPG.com reports. Players can choose from three different horses.
  • New World has launched the Legacy of Crassus event. The event runs from January 10th to January 23rd, 2024. Rewards include Cyclops statues, a pickaxe, and weapon and armor sets.
  • There was the first big update in 2024 for Lost Ark players. It includes Lailai Island, a new difficulty level for Brelshaza and New Year skins for players.
  • This happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • Nexon has announced that the entire PvP portion of the MMORPG Vindictus will be removed. This means there are some adjustments to the user interface: The statistics from duels disappear and the corresponding button disappears from the menu.
  • The MMORPG Metin 2 is celebrating its 17th birthday. To mark the celebrations, all players will receive a bonus to the experience points they receive.
  • This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:

  • The Tarisland development team wants to listen to players’ criticism and is making changes to Pay2Win. The crafting of equipment parts should now be limited, and some should even only be obtained through PvE content.
  • Throne & Liberty has tightened the rules for the Korean server. All players must now register with a Korean phone number for verification. This will make it harder for foreign players to get onto the Korean servers (via MassivelyOP).
  • The reservation of player names for the old school MMORPG Ravendawn began this week. The official release of the game is scheduled to take place next week.
