The popular Witcher card game Gwent (PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android) has been available to play online as a standalone trading card game since 2018. The game has 88% positive reviews on Steam. The last official update has now appeared. In a stream, the developers explain what will happen next with the game.
This is Gwent:

With patch 11.10, released on October 16th, the developers’ last update was officially released.
There were no major changes to the content here. Above all, final map adjustments were made and some errors were fixed.
Gwent player numbers became noticeably weaker on Steam from 2023 onwards
How have player numbers developed for Gwent on Steam?
All changes are explained in detail in the developer update:
What’s next? Luckily, the cessation of developer updates doesn’t mean Gwent will no longer be playable. There should also still be a certain amount of variety.
“We always wanted to make sure that there was something new to consider with every start of the season,” says the FAQ.
For this purpose, the new “Balance Council” will be introduced in Update 11.10. This is a voting system in which players can vote each month on whether cards should become stronger, weaker, more expensive or cheaper.
How does the new system work? In order to take part in the vote, 2 requirements must be met:
The developers want to ensure that only players who are actively involved in the game take part in the elections.
If you meet the requirements, you have the option of accessing the Balance Council via the main menu. This is structured similarly to the deck builder to enable players to use it intuitively.
This is what the new balance council looks like:
For each of the 4 categories (increase or decrease in strength; increase or decrease in recruitment costs) 3 cards can be selected and weighted. The higher the weighting, the more votes you cast for the chosen card.
A maximum of 15 changes should be made per category per voting cycle, with a required minimum number of 50 votes. If no card reaches this criterion, at least 3 cards per group are still changed.
If serious technical problems occur, they should continue to be fixed in patches. Apart from that, the further development of the game is now in the hands of the community.
Trading card games are also very popular outside of online matches. One of the most famous is “Magic: The Gathering”.
When Magic entered into a collaboration with Lord of the Rings, a very special card was also produced. You can find out how this “one ring” with a value of $2,000,000 was found here on MeinMMO:
