In the match between Canada and Switzerland on Saturday, a shaky situation was seen, when Canada Joe Veleno and Nino Niederreiter got together.

First, near the sideline, Veleno dangerously stepped on Niederreiter’s leg with his skate. Based on the pictures, the act looked intentional, as there were no game reasons for it.

However, the judge did not detect the act, so Veleno survived the situation without punishment, at least for the time being.

– He tried to break my ankle. It doesn’t belong in this genre. I hope the (International Ice Hockey Federation) IIHF does something because that was a very dangerous game. That cannot be accepted, Niederreiter comments on Veleno’s stunt for MTV (you go to another service).

Although Veleno was not punished for his trick, there may be consequences.

– According to all sense, he will no longer play in this tournament. Yes, that should be a ban for the final tournament, hockey coach Olli Jokinen said C More in the studio.

Switzerland at the top of the group

Moments later, Winnipeg Jets forward Niederreiter shoved Veleno in front of the goal and was suspended for violence. Canada got the upper hand and went By Tyler Toffol goal for a 1–0 lead.

However, Switzerland was stronger than Canada in the match when Nico Hischier, Dario Simion and Andres Ambühl took the team to a 3–1 lead.

Canada’s Michael Carcone narrowed it down at the end of the third period, but the goal remained a thin consolation.

Continuing with a clean game, Switzerland leads Group B of the World Cup, which will be played in Riga, Latvia. The Czech Republic (13 points) is second in the group and Canada (11 points) third.

In the A group played in Tampere, Finland secured its place in the playoffs on Saturday when it beat Austria.
