A person is charged with a tomato attack in the Riksdag

The 37-year-old denies the crime, but admits that he threw a tomato.

“With my hand, I threw. It was like a, how should you say, dove throw,” he says in questioning, according to the newspaper.

It was during a Riksdag debate on October 3 that Malmer Stenergard rushed out of the Riksdag’s chamber after pro-Palestinian demonstrators threw tomatoes and red onions from the stand, which ended up two rows behind the foreign minister.

A video from inside the chamber shows the man standing up and throwing an object with his left hand. He is then taken into custody by a Riksdag guard and taken out of the hall, according to the police’s preliminary investigation.

A man and two women were taken into custody and removed from the premises. When asked why he threw the tomato, the man says he did it to draw attention to the situation in Palestine.
