A person has been found dead in Mark’s municipality after the search for 17-year-old Maja, who had disappeared, relatives have been informed of the find.
The incident is being investigated as murder and a person has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
– In connection with having heard and served this person with suspicion, it leads to the discovery site and this body, says Stefan Gustafsson, press spokesperson at the police.
17-year-old Maja from Kinna has been missing since Thursday and a large search effort has been launched to find her. The search effort was focused on an area around Skene that was judged to be interesting.
On Monday evening, the police announced that a dead person had been found in the search area. The body has not yet been identified. One person has been arrested and detained on suspicion of murder.
– It is the information that emerges in the interrogation of the suspect that leads to the discovery site, says Stefan Gustafsson.
The police will now carry out a crime scene investigation and forensic examination at the scene.
Disappeared on Thursday
Maja was last seen on Thursday afternoon, when she did not come home from school. When she disappeared, she allegedly had her phone on her, but has not responded to texts or calls.
– No one has had contact with her since then. Neither parents nor police have reached her. This means that we probably cannot rule out that she has been exposed to crime, said Thomas Fuxborg.
The police could not rule out that she had been the victim of a crime and on Monday opened a preliminary investigation into suspected kidnapping.
