A seriously mentally ill violent criminal who is treated at Helix in Huddinge has escaped.
The man is convicted of an unprovoked attempted murder.

The man was treated at the forensic psychiatric clinic Helix at Huddinge Hospital, south of Stockholm.
– A patient has deviated in connection with an outing with staff yesterday and has not returned, says Ola Broström, director of operations for Forensic Psychiatry Vård Stockholm.
The police have been called in and are searching for the wanted fugitive. According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, it concerns a man who was convicted in the summer of 2018 for attempted murder, assault and violent resistance. He had then, completely unprovoked, thrown a person onto the subway tracks in central Stockholm.
The man was judged to be seriously mentally disturbed and was therefore sentenced to forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination. He has previously been convicted of other crimes and also has a history in mental health care.
Had a high risk of recidivism for serious crimes
When a chief medical officer at Helix requested during the winter of 2022 that the violent criminal continue to receive closed forensic psychiatric care, it was stated that “the risk of relapse into serious crime is assessed as high.” According to Helix, the man is not considered dangerous today.
– The patient has been treated with us since 2018 and is in the discharge phase. Since 2020, stays abroad have been permitted. Risk assessments have been carried out where it has been judged that stays away can continue, says Ola Broström.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the violent criminal was still at large.
– An investigation will be carried out to find out if something broke in our routines, says Ola Broström.
TV4 Nyheterna has contacted the Stockholm police, who are managing the search operation, for a comment.
