According to SvD/Sifo’s survey, 60,000 votes separate the blocs. According to Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson, professor of political science and election researcher, it is mainly about the last voters standing and weighing between which parties to vote for.
It hasn’t been this even between the blocs since 1973 and 1979 – although the 2006 election was also very even. Ekengren Oscarsson believes that it may be because there is so much at stake for all parties.
– There has been a very strong polarization and strong mobilization around this year’s election participation, he says.
