And if it gets too sad, treat yourself to our life-affirming article on the anniversary of the muted scurries.
Died Simpsons Characters: Beatrice Simmons
FOX
The simpsons
Grampa Simpson met his girlfriend Beatrice in the retirement home in Springfield in season 2. Unfortunately, nothing came of one last date because Homer dragged his father onto a family elevator against his will. Did Beatrice really die of a broken heart because she was stood up? let us no say, because otherwise it would just be too sad.
Died Simpsons characters: Bleeding Gums Murphy
FOX
The simpsons
Lisa’s jazz idol, Bleeding Gums Murphy, had been there since season 1 when she got through a depressive phase with the help of his soulful blues. In the 6th season, the musician died of a heart attack, which prompted his little fan to pay him one last musical tribute.
Died Simpsons Characters: Frank Grimes
FOX
The simpsons
Homer’s colleague Frank Grimes is perhaps the only character in the series who has ever drawn attention to how unlikely and unfair it actually is that a lazy, stupid, good-for-nothing like Homer has the greatest adventures and success stories. This drove the dutiful Frank crazy with resentment in season 8 and he accidentally killed himself.
Died Simpsons Characters: Maude Flanders
FOX
The simpsons
In Season 11, neighbor Ned Flanders’ faith was tested after his lovely wife Maude was killed by a diabolical T-shirt gun. This death was particularly tragic for her two children, Rod and Todd. Bye-diddly-ho, Maude!
Died Simpsons characters: Amber Simpson
FOX
The simpsons
When Homer and Ned came to Las Vegas in Season 2, they made such a big mess that they married two cocktail barmaids and suspected sex workers and didn’t remember them later. In Homer’s case, that was Amber, who died of an overdose in season 18. Pretty dark for The Simpsons.
Died Simpsons characters: Mona Simpson
FOX
Homer has always had a difficult relationship with his mother Mona. As an activist on the run, she rarely appeared in his life, which Homer clearly criticized her for during a visit in season 19. When he went to apologize, he discovered that Mona had died in her sleep. Rest in power!
Died Simpsons Characters: Fat Tony
FOX
The simpsons
Crime boss Fat Tony was a tough guy with a heart of gold. So he didn’t die as a result of martial mafia matters, but died of a heart attack in season 22 after Homer betrayed him. Mamma mia!
Died Simpsons characters: Edna Krabbapel
FOX
The simpsons
This death was particularly painful. Not only because the teacher Mrs. Krabbapel, who was annoyed for a good reason, was one of the coolest characters, but above all because there was a real death involved. Voice actress Marcia Wallace died in 2013, after which the showrunners decided to send Edna into eternal retirement and poor Ned Flanders became a double widower. In season 25, Mrs. Krabbapel at least got a farewell episode dedicated to her.
Died Simpsons Characters: Hyman Krustofsky
FOX
The simpsons
Krusty’s father, the Honorable Rabbi Krustofsky, never found his son’s career choice particularly amusing. Shortly after their reconciliation, he died after the creatives announced a significant character death for season 26. When it was “just” this supporting character, some fans felt cheated (via THR).
Died Simpsons Characters: Larry Dalrymple
FOX
The simpsons
Drunkard Larry could always be seen in the background of Moe’s Tavern. In fact, he’s been there since the very first episode of The Simpsons. Most of the time he sat with his buddy Sam – and that’s all we can tell about him. In the most recent episode of Season 35, Larry died of unknown causes, prompting Homer and Moe to go on a road trip to scatter his ashes.
We didn’t know Larry very well, but at the next opportunity, drink one for him (responsibly)!
