Athletics coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen’s criminal complaint filed in the fall has led to prosecution.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen, 58, became the center of controversy as a coach in October when his sons made allegations of violent and threatening behavior by their father. At that time, the police started a preliminary investigation into intimate partner violence.

The Norwegian police was initially silent about the case, but decided to publish a press release after Dagbladet’s news.
– In the case we are investigating, Gjert Ingebrigtsen has been charged with bodily harm. I don’t want to open up why we have filed charges against him. This is part of the investigation and we do not wish to comment at this time, Police Inspector Terese Braut Våge said according to the press release.
According to Braut Våge, the police hope to conclude the investigation before Easter, Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK reports.
– Then the prosecutor’s office will make an assessment of the matter, after which we will see if the case will get its final decision, or if there will be more charges, I can’t answer that . But it is perhaps most natural that there will be an indictment in the case.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen’s lawyer John Christian Elde told Dagbladet on Monday that the charges were filed before the new year.
– The police brought charges against him for the incident, for which he can be fined. He gave an explanation about it later. We believe that the case will expire until the final decision, Elden wrote.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen has denied all the accusations and they have been silent about the case with their lawyer. Ingebrigtsen coached her boys until the beginning of 2022, when they drifted into a break-up and have not been in touch since.
