A new strategy game on Steam can shorten your waiting time for Civilization 7

Strategy fans are longing for the 7th part of the Civilization series. But you still have to wait a few months for Civ VII. If you still want a new 4X game in the meantime, you can check out a new strategy game on Steam. What’s special about Zephon: post-apocalypse and cosmic horror.

What game is it about? The strategy game Zephon was released on Steam on November 8, 2024. As a 4X game, the game is reminiscent of well-known titles such as Civilization 6 or Age of Wonders 4. But instead of turn-based strategy in a historical context, the post-apocalypse awaits you in Zephon.

Humanity returns to a devastated Earth filled with robots and alien enemies. The game mixes elements of technical apocalypse with cosmic horror, which is familiar from Lovecraft’s stories about Cthulhu.

    How is the game received? The game is currently doing pretty well on Steam. With 206 reviews, the game is currently rated “Very Positive” with 91% positive reviews. What is particularly praised is that it seems like a further development of the developer’s previous game and has improved some things from its predecessor.

  • Andrew: Excellent studio. Excellent game. Thank you for Gladius and for Zephon. The new 4x diplomacy and story elements are fun and refreshing. Trading and allying with enemies is great as this wasn’t possible in Gladius.
  • Miloch: If you liked Gladius, you should like this game too. It’s from the same people. It has many of the same elements, but is in a completely different setting.

    • But there are also a few negative voices like that of user Runny Legs, who dislikes the similarity to Gladius. He also criticizes the UI but praises diplomacy. He admits that it’s not a bad game, but he thinks the price is too high.
