What awaits you? At first glance at the trailer, the game is slightly reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid, although it wants to score points with a fresh concept. The shooter is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, which means that it makes a really good impression, at least graphically.

In Black State, a group of secret scientists hire you to go on a mysterious mission. After a catastrophic event, you are tasked with uncovering the truth behind it and freeing a few prisoners at the same time. The catch is the doors that block your path every now and then. These are portals that lead you to new and uncertain places.

On the official website, the developers refer to this as a “real-time door mechanic.” The doors not only lead you to unknown places, but also serve as a seamless transition between levels. This means that Black State can do without loading screens. The doors are also designed to prevent the gaming experience from repeating itself, as they are designed to open again and again in different places.

The community remains cautious for now

How is this received? The community isn’t so sure yet, judging by the reactions under the trailer (via YouTube). The shooter does look interesting and pretty cool at first glance, but players are remaining cautious for now.

Above all, it seems as if many people are hoping for more from the gameplay. One user thinks it seems as if the entire budget went into the graphics and not into the gameplay. Other users compare the gameplay to games from 2010 to 2012, but with Unreal Engine 5.

“Strong The Day Before vibes,” writes another user in his comment. However, it is still too early to say whether we can expect a similar flop from Black State. After all, this is the very first trailer and it also notes that the in-game material will still change. So it remains to be seen how the whole thing develops.
