A new role -playing game on Steam makes dying an important skill, is already evaluated in the demo “extremely positive”

In a new role -playing game, it is not an obstacle if one of your characters dies in combat – quite the contrary. In the demo on Steam, this is already “extremely positive” for the players.

Which game is this about? We are talking about The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-. The JRPG will be released on April 23, 2025 for the PC on Steam and for the Nintendo Switch. The game is developed by Too Kyo Games, which was only founded in 2017 by former Danganronpa developers. Below is also the inventor of the series, Kazuaka Kodaka.

A free demo on The Hundred Line Line Defense – is currently available on Steam. It is already very well received – 96 % of the currently 703 reviews are positive.

100 days of monsters besieged – and also at school

What is the game about? Takumi Sumino is actually a normal teenager and does not lead to the most exciting life. However, this changes suddenly when its city is attacked by grotesque monsters. In the midst of this attack, a strange creature appears and offers him power to protect his loved ones – but it has a prize.

Thereupon Takumi wakes up in the last defense academy: a school in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mysterious flames. He should protect this together with 14 other students – for 100 days.

The struggles against the school invaders run turn-based. Your characters, of whom you only take a handful of per fight, move around like on a chess board. If one of your characters die in combat, this is no longer tragic – it will be simply revived later.

Dying is not just an option here, you are even encouraged to do so: If the last hour of a figure has beaten, use her last blood reserves for an ultimate attack and give you bonuses for the remaining duration of the battle.

Sacred units return from the dead and even improve your number of points at the beginning of a new wave. So it is not always the smartest decision to protect your characters – sometimes you win more if you let them fall into ruin.

The Steam Next Fest offers a variety of time-exclusive demos, which you can only try out now.
