A new outfit in Final Fantasy XIV should actually be cute

With Dawntrail, it is possible to collect an outfit in Final Fantasy XIV that makes players look like a cute mascot. Thanks to the new option to dye the clothes even more individually, the outfit can be customized to your own liking. But you should be careful about color combinations if you don’t want to scare anyone away.

What kind of costume is that? The outfit consists of two different pieces of clothing, the Mica Head and the Mica Suit. The Dawntrail update now makes it possible to dye the armor pieces with up to two colors.

MeinMMO author Fabienne Kissel dared to dye it, but then discovered that there is a terrible color combination for the costume. If you decide to make a black and red suit, we have to warn you. Because the cute squirrel will turn into a cruel nightmare:

Especially with its wide-open eyes, the squirrel looks like it could jump at our throats at any moment. If you want to scare other players or just prepare for Halloween, this could be a possible candidate for your next killer outfit.

How do I get the outfit? You can get the outfit by collecting Mica items in the FATE “Murderous Mascot”. The FATE is located in the Living Memory area, which you can find on the continent of the new Dawntrail expansion.

To trigger this FATE, you first need two other FATES:

  • Mascot March (Coordinates: X: 35, Y:34)
  • Mascot Chaos (Coordinates: X: 35, Y: 34)
  • To reach the FATES, you must have activated the flying function for the area. Once you have completed the FATES, “Mica, the Magical Mu” will appear at a random time as another Fate. The coordinates for him are X: 37.2, Y: 33.3.

The boss is so strong that you can’t take him on alone, so gather a group or wait on site until there are enough players to defeat him.

If you defeat Mica, you will receive the item “Mica Magicog”. Depending on your contribution to the victory, you can receive two to six of these items per FATE. If you collect enough of them, you can exchange them for the outfit with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X: 8.7, Y: 13.5). For the Mica head, you need four “Mica Magicog” items, and for the suit, you need six of these items.

The new dyeing option is a good way for players to design their own individual clothing. But Dawntrail has other innovations that are rather negative. MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiß explains in an article why she misses the MMO aspect: Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail shows that the MMORPG is becoming more and more of a single player
