Believe it or not, a new film based on JRR Tolkien’s novels is coming to theaters soon.
The return of Middle-earth is imminent. After the success of the trilogy The Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson’s early 2000s, each work set in the universe imagined by JRR Tolkien is an event. Despite more measured and less enthusiastic reviews, The Hobbit And The Rings of Power were still successes that attracted fans of the saga to theaters.
And it shouldn’t stop there, since the universe of Lord of the Rings is coming back to theaters soon. A film set in JRR Tolkien’s universe will indeed see the light of day in 2024. The action takes place nearly 200 years before the adventures of Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn and the rest of the Fellowship of the Ring. Viewers will immerse themselves in the story of the King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and the legendary battle against the army of Dunlendings that helped shape Middle-earth as we know it. He will notably give his name to the fortress of Helm’s Deep, which can be found in the Lord of the Rings.
A small peculiarity compared to recent adaptations of Tolkien’s work on the small and big screen: The Lord of the Rings : The Rohirrim War is an animated film by Sola Entertainment, which mixed the techniques of motion capture, 3D, while retaining the legacy of anime culture. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, it stars Brian Cox (Succession) in the lead role, while Miranda Otto reprises the role of Éowyn, which she already played in Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
The Lord of the Rings : The Rohirrim War thus further extends the universe of JRR Tolkien on the screen. And it will soon be available in theaters: after the strike of screenwriters and actors in Hollywood, the release date has been pushed back a few months. It is currently scheduled for December 11, 2024, right on time for the holidays. The appointment is made with fans of Middle-earth. In the meantime, know that season 2 of Rings of Powera spin-off series available on Prime Video, will be released on August 29.
