Bend Studio’s Live Service Move

Following its last work, Days Gone, Bend, Oregon-based Studio is working on a new IP aimed at a completely different field. Following the release of Days Gone for PlayStation 4 in 2019 and for PC two years later, the studio confirmed development of a new intellectual property, but no concrete information about the project has yet been shared.

It came to light thanks to a job posting that Bend Studio’s new IP will be based on a live service model. The ad emphasizes that experience with live service games is a requirement for candidates. As part of Sony’s live service strategy announced in early 2022, Bend Studio’s new project looks set to make a significant contribution to the company’s expansion in this area.

Sony had announced plans to release twelve new live service games by the end of fiscal 2026, but half of those projects have been delayed. Sony COO Hiroki Totoki stated that these delays were due to quality concerns. Bend Studio’s project will also be part of this innovative initiative and will adapt to current trends in the industry.

Bend Studio had previously proposed an open world Resistance and a sequel to Days Gone to Sony, but these offers were not accepted. The studio worked on the PC port of Days Gone, producing one of the best ports for this platform, and this success could also be a promising sign for the new live service project.
