A new little-known but promising streaming platform is available in Europe. Free and perfectly legal, it offers more than 20,000 films and series, including original productions.

In recent years, streaming companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ have launched lower-priced, ad-supported subscriptions while gradually increasing prices for other plans. But not only are prices increasing regularly, but it is also necessary to increase subscriptions to access exclusive content, given that SVODs are multiplying like hot cakes. And it is difficult to share an account to limit fees, with platforms now limiting this practice.

Fortunately, you don’t have to pay to watch streaming movies and series. Indeed, alongside the behemoths, there are many completely free and perfectly legal video services. The best known are TF1+, M6+, Rakuten.tv, Pluto TV and TV5 Monde Plus.

But there is a relatively unknown one which offers more than 20,000 films and series for free and legally. We of course want to talk about Tubi, a platform unknown in our region but which claims to be “the largest free movie and TV streaming service in the United States”.

Owned by the American media giant Fox Corporation, Tubi has no less than 80 million active users each month in Uncle Sam’s country, where it accounts for 1% of the streaming audience, and has just arrived in United Kingdom. The platform offers more than 20,000 movies and TV episodes, with curated content from major global distributors such as Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount and Sony Pictures Entertainment, as well as a selection of exclusive Tubi Originals. There are some very good titles there, like Oldboy, Terminator, Mulholland Drive… In addition to partnering with major movie studios, Tubi also partners with television networks and independent producers to secure the rights to a diverse selection of films and television shows.

Tubi is available on mobile devices, some smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, and through a web browser. But the service is unfortunately not accessible in our regions at the moment. The platform’s home page lets us know if we try to access it.

However, it is possible to circumvent this limitation by using a VPN that locates us in the United States or the United Kingdom. The entry of the service on the Old Continent, however, suggests that it could land in France in the medium term, as evidenced by the application page on the Play Store, which displays visuals in French.
