This increase between everywhere in force in a few days.
Is it to wonder how far it can go? After a first increase in 2025 during the new year, a second increase in tobacco prices will take place this Saturday 1er FEBRUARY. Not all packages will be affected, but the prices of cigarettes of certain prized brands of the general public will be impacted. Customs has made the announcement recently, and discreetly.
According to the table published, several brands such as Fortuna, Gauloises or Dunhill, will sell more expensive. The increase applied is 20 to 40 cents per package. At the rate of a pack of 20 cigarettes consumed per week, this represents an additional expense of 10 to 20 euros per year.
On the Fortuna side, the blue and red (normal or 100S) drop from € 11.70 to € 11.90. The Red Classic cross 12 euros to sell € 12.10. Gauls, white blondes, blue or red blonde, increased to € 12.50, against € 12.30 until then. As for the Dunhill, the silver, blue and red will now sell € 13.50, while the “Red Select” will drop to € 13.60. Other brands, such as Maryland, News & Co, or Royale by Davidoff will also see their prices increase.
Rolling tobacco is not spared either. The 30g joke also increases. This is particularly the case of the country flower, which takes 10 cents (€ 17.40), as are the similar products sold by Lucky Strike: the white, blonde, the original, the red and the red s go to 17.50 euros.
If these prices increase, it should be noted that for the most common packages, such as Marlboro Red or Vogue, prices remain unchanged: 13 euros per package. As for the recharges of electronic cigarettes, they are not affected by these increases either, but could be struck by the increase in a tax, which would increase the prices of 1.50 euros on average per recharge.
In France, the price of tobacco is particularly high due to the many taxes. These are applied in order to stem smoking and its devastating consequences for health (75,000 deaths per year linked to tobacco). Thus, more than 80% of the price of the package goes to the state funds. On a price paid by 13 euros, only 2 euros are only divided between the manufacturer and the tobacconist.
