A new game with dinosaurs is coming soon. However, it will not be released for PC, but only for PS5. The reason for this is mods, as the developers announced. And not just any mods.
What kind of game is this? We’re talking about Code Violet, which could be particularly interesting for fans of Dino Crisis. It is a survival horror game in which you play as the protagonist against all kinds of dinosaurs. Dino Crisis itself probably won’t be getting a sequel any time soon – possibly because of Monster Hunter.
In Code Violet you find yourself in the future of the 25th century, in a world that has made planet Earth uninhabitable. However, a handful of survivors refuse to give up.
Code Violet is scheduled to be released for PS5 in July 2025. Anyone who wondered whether the game would also be released for PC will now be disappointed. The developers announced that this will not be the case – for one simple reason.
Here you can see the trailer for the game:
Mods and their endless possibilities…
Why isn’t the game released on PC? The developers announced on x.com that there will be no PC version because mods exist on this platform. This would allow users to change the game in a way that the developers don’t like.
Specifically, they address vulgar content in the posting. The studio TeamKill Media does not want their protagonist or other characters from Code Violet to be inappropriately changed by mods.
The developers further explain:
We greatly value our voice actors and actors, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story, and refuse to destroy them in any way with sexual mods. Ridiculing our art and potentially damaging the reputations of our voice actors and actresses is not worth the extra money we can make.

So the position is quite clear. Code Violet will not be available on PC. However, in a second posting on x.com, the developers felt compelled to explain their position further.
They emphasize that they have nothing against PC gamers in general. The team is also not generally against modders and their projects. However, they are “100%” against pornographic mods.
What do the players say? The statement has met with some criticism from users on x.com. Not everyone can understand the studio’s attitude to this topic – including other developers:
The last comment in particular emphasizes that mods are something very positive for many games. Older titles such as Skyrim are still alive today because they are kept alive by mods from the community.
This will probably not change the decision of the Code Violet development team. How do you feel about the decision? Feel free to write it to us in the comments. Meanwhile, Dino Crisis fans have been waiting for news and a sequel for years. In the meantime there was even a brief hope, but in vain: after 19 years, Capcom is finally bringing another dinosaur game for PS4, PS5 – but it’s the wrong one
