Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) presented an action plan against gang violence on Sunday. Among other things, she wants to double the prison term for serious weapons offenses to four years. Punishments for other crimes must also be toughened.
– It is a national offensive against gang shootings that takes place on two fronts, against guns and against the gangs, said the Prime Minister at a press conference.
Andersson also put forward the proposal that the police, without concrete suspicion of crime, should be allowed to search “every basement storage room, every apartment and every car” where weapons are believed to be stored.
