Hard work must be rewarded – that’s what the mother of an Elden Ring fan thought. She wanted to buy him the DLC, even though she herself has to save money. Her story has received a lot of positive feedback on Reddit.
What was the mother planning? As Reddit user SabrinaSpellman1 writes in a post on the Elden Ring subreddit, she has a son who loves the game very much.
The main game was a lot of fun for him and made his everyday life more pleasant. Because he doesn’t have it easy. At school he doesn’t get the support he needs as an autistic student. Nevertheless, he bravely gets through it and “rocks” everyday life.
This must be rewarded, which is why the mother wants to buy her son the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. However, she writes, they are currently going through a difficult financial time. That is why she has recently been saving up to be able to afford the purchase.
Although money is tight, the mother wants to make her son happy. She writes:
“I can’t wait to see his face! I hope it lives up to the hype because he loved Elden Ring so much.”
She was the proudest mother ever. But the story didn’t end there. The Reddit community wanted to help in one particular area.

What happened next? In an edit of her original post, the mother says that two users contacted her. They offered to cover the costs of the DLC.
The post would have made them smile and feel good – and they wanted to return the favor. Given the mother’s financial circumstances, this would certainly have been a help, but she declined the offer.
She saved the money and is now happy to use it for a present for her son. Nevertheless, she thanks the community profusely and says that all the lovely messages have made her very happy.
What do users say? The post has received over 200 comments from users. While many simply find the story beautiful and thank people for sharing it, others praise the mother for her good deed.
