A million watch the battle of the titans T1 vs. DWG KIA – The absolute hate combo decides the match

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

On Sunday, August 21st, there was one of the big highlights in the League of Legends of the year 2022. In the semifinals of the playoffs in South Korea, Faker’s team, T1, met the reigning runner-up world champion DWG KIA, with Fakers heir, Showmaker . The match was as exciting as could be expected beforehand. More than a million people watched the battle of the giants at the same time: It was about entering the LoL Worlds 2022.

What was the match about? It was the semifinals of the South Korean playoffs:

  • The winner of the match booked a spot in the final against Gen G. and secured a ticket to Worlds 2022.
  • The loser was eliminated, but still has a chance to fly to Worlds 2022 in Mexico and the USA via the “Regional Qualifiers”.
  • LoL: T1 is no longer just faker and appendage – 19 year old is now the star

Which teams fought there? T1 is the team around the legendary midlaner Faker, who became world champion three times, but has been waiting for title number 4 for 5 years. In 2017, Ambition got in his way with Samsung Galaxy, since then Faker hasn’t been able to win a Worlds title.

T1 is no longer unconditionally Faker’s team, because the botlane around prodigy Keria (support) and the botlaner Gumayusi dominates. With Oner and Zeus you also have good people in jungle and top lane.

Though Jungler Oner has been in the headlines lately because T1’s CEO, Joe Marsh, made a statement about his body, which he quickly regretted.

An 18-year-old is considered a “monster” and “genius” in LoL – he plays the most thankless role

DWG KIA might have the best jungler/mid combo in the world, but is that enough?

Their opponents from DWG Kia have actually been the big hit in South Korea for the last 2 years. They became world champions in 2020 and made it to the finals in 2021.

In 2022, however, they lost 3 players at once, including their excellent support, the anime waifu lover Beryl. You seem weaker now.

With Showmaker, however, DWG KIA has what is currently the best midlaner in the world on its team – with Canyon, an extremely strong jungler. That might just about be the best 1-2 combo in the world in LoL.

Showmaker seems rather inconspicuous. But when he plays LoL, he’s one of the greatest.

A controversial position at DWG KIA is the top lane: With Nuguri you actually have a player who had already reached the highest level and who was predicted to have a bright future.

But he is not currently playing regularly: he was replaced by Burdol, an 18-year-old. The team’s coach, Daeny, is regularly criticized for the decision. The fans are even demanding his head.

29-year-old coach Daeny, who describes himself as the “God of LoL”, is an exciting character anyway, he was also at T1 for 8 months – it didn’t work at all.

DWG Kia made it into the match with the help of a bug.

A bombastic League of Legends video has now garnered 138 million views – showing just how huge LoL is

How did the match go? It was indeed the expected showdown, culminating in a Match 5:

  • T1 won the first two matches. Jungler Oner on Trundle was voted Player of Game 1, with 7-1-9. Faker took the award with Sylas in Match 2. Both matches only lasted 25 minutes.
  • DWG KIA won Match 3 (with Nuguri) and Match 4 (again with Burdol). Both times Canyon took the Player of the Match title with Morgana (1-0-14) and Wukong (1-1-10).
  • It all boiled down to Game 5.

Keria (19) is not only good, but also pretty cool: is currently considered one of the “cleverest LoL players” in the world.

T1 plays a slow torturous game with Yuumi and Zeri in Match 5

This was the decision: In game 5, T1 then went to extremes: They played what is probably the most “hated combo” in LoL at the moment:

The support heroine “Yuumi” is so hated for her parasitic playstyle that pro gamer Jankos demands that she be “completely removed from LoL because of its ugliness”.

Gumayusi decided the match with Zeri 5-0-4. Keria went 0-0-10 on Yuumi.

Match 5 was more of a disappointment for the fans: the thing went for 42 minutes and the first 25 minutes had no in-game kills.

    “Should be a criminal offense”

How will the match be commented? On reddit, hatred of “Yuumi/Zeri” predominates in the comments. One does not understand how DWG KIA T1 could leave these heroes:

People say, “Leaving Yuumi and Zeir in Game 5 of the playoffs should be a criminal offense.”

Also, it’s hard to understand why Damwon replaced KIA Nuguri after winning Game 3 with him.

How many people watched the match? It doesn’t get much better than T1 against DWG Kia in LoL. According to Esports Charts site, the game had 1,013,992 concurrent viewers at its peak, the LCK’s most-watched game this split and one of the record-breaking LoL games ever (via dotesports).

More people will probably watch the final between T1 and Gen G.

LoL: 3.5 million at the top sees probably the best match of the year.
