The United States announces that a new military aid package of 375 million dollars – about 3.8 billion kroner – is to be sent to Ukraine. The support includes an unspecified number of cluster bombs and several different types of rockets, according to senior officials.
The package also includes ammunition necessary for Ukraine, as well as mine protection and armor-reinforced material.
According to the official, munitions are to be taken from the Pentagon’s warehouse to speed up delivery.
The official announcement is expected to come during the ongoing public debate in the UN General Assembly, where the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a main topic.
Many heads of state and government are in New York and the UN headquarters during the General Assembly debate. One of them is Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will address the General Assembly and meet President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington DC.
