Israel will receive an 8.7 billion dollar aid package from the United States for military operations, according to the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The package includes, among other things, improvements to anti-aircraft systems.
The package was agreed upon in several high-level meetings between Israeli and US officials in Washington. According to the ministry, Israel has already received a 3.5 billion share of the package for critical needs.
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas demanded on Thursday at the UN General Assembly that the international community stop the arms trade with Israel.
