Kevin from Home Alone is a little psychopath. Accordingly, it is perhaps not surprising if horror directors also celebrate the film and its straw-blond terror protagonist. This is how Nosferatu maker Robert Eggers reveals himself: He is a big fan of the cult comedy.
Kevin – Home Alone director helped horror master film Nosferatu
Speaking to Konbini, Eggers explains:
I watch it once a year […] It’s a masterpiece. A timeless film. It is immaculately photographed. Unlike many other representatives of his genre, he doesn’t waste a single shot. Really well done.

However, that is not the only connection that the horror master has with the cult franchise around Kevin McCallister. Chris Columbus, who directed Home Alone and the sequel Kevin Alone in New York, has directed Nosferatu already co-produced Eggers’ third film.
According to Eggers, this is not just a formal position: Columbus plays an important role in the creative process. For example, he ensures that all important scenes in the script are captured visually as storyboard drawings.
Columbus has already proven his talent for fantastic material before: After the Kevin films, he directed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He also brought the celebrated fictional character Percy Jackson to the screen for the first time in 2010 with Percy Jackson – Thieves in Olympus.
Fans will soon find out whether Columbus’ help with Eggers’ new film paid off: The horror remake Nosferatu will be released in cinemas on January 2nd, 2024. Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård can be seen in front of the camera.
