A map from CS:GO isn’t in CS2 yet, even though it was shown 20 months ago – now it could be coming soon

Valve showed a map in a trailer for Counter-Strike 2 about 20 months ago that could finally come into the game soon.

Which map is it about? In Counter-Strike 2, the release of the map “Train” could be imminent.

The map, whose distinguishing features are the eponymous moves, already existed in older Counter-Strike offshoots, such as CS:GO. You could also play Train in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source.

A revised version of the map was shown in one of the first trailers for Counter-Strike 2 on YouTube about 20 months ago. In the video titled “Leveling Up The World”, Valve announced the overhaul of CS:GO maps for CS2 and explained what they are changing about the maps. They showed some pictures of various maps, including Train.

Dataminers say Train is coming to CS2

Why might Train come to CS soon? As early as October 3, 2024, a well-known data miner spread the information on social networks such as X.com (formerly Twitter) that Valve was probably working on a revised version of Train.

Now Valve has also changed the profile banner of the official CS2 account on X.com. They often do this when an announcement is imminent. However, on the banner you can only see an asphalted area.

According to a data miner, that mysterious banner on which we only see asphalt is a hint of the appearance of the map (via X.com). However, since this is not unconfirmed information, you should view the data miner’s statements with skepticism.

Some users don’t necessarily recognize the asphalt in the banner as a reference to Train. In general, it is difficult to make an educated guess based on the picture. However, some users believe that this could also be a reference to the “Cache” map, which was also playable in CS:GO.

If Train is really going to be added to Counter-Strike 2 soon, we will probably only find out in the respective patch notes – Valve is not known for a lively exchange with the community. A Valve developer is regularly harassed by players on
