A man was chased into a restaurant and shot dead

A man in his 20s is charged with having shot dead another young man inside a fast food restaurant in Rågsved in southern Stockholm in the spring of 2023.

It was on May 17 that the suspected perpetrator allegedly started firing shots near a school, according to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office.

The man is said to have then chased several people into the restaurant, where the murder victim, also in his 20s, was killed.

The shots hit people who were at the preschool and inside the restaurant.

In addition to murder, the man is charged with attempted murder of two more people who were hit, and seven others who risked being hit.

“The indictment relates to murder in one case and attempted murder in nine cases. One person died as a result of gunshot wounds. Another person was hit in the back and has been paralyzed from the waist down. Another person has been shot in the foot. The other plaintiffs were not hit by the shots,” says Helena Nordstrand, senior prosecutor and head of the preliminary investigation, in a comment.

The man now charged was arrested about four hours after the shooting and has been in custody since then. Initially, another four people were detained, but the suspicions against them have been dismissed.
