The incident occurred on Thursday in Kattegatt in Öckerö municipality, about 25 kilometers outside the outermost islands in Gothenburg’s archipelago.
“One person was rescued from the sea and pronounced dead in hospital the same day. Now a 64-year-old man has been requested to be detained on probable cause on suspicion of murder,” writes the Prosecutor’s Office in a press release.
The alarm first came in as a boat accident. In a major rescue effort, a man was able to be taken out of the water and taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter, but his life could not be saved.
Another man is now on probable cause suspected of murder.
