A man in his 20s died in a workplace accident when he was hit by a 2.5 ton trailer. Now two managers and an employee in the company have been sentenced to suspended sentences and daily fines for, among other things, work environment violations, writes Göteborgs-Posten.

It was in June 2021 that work was underway in a stormwater culvert under E6 in the Kungälv area. A custom-built trailer was lifted by a crane truck with tensioning straps. Suddenly one of the tensioning straps broke and the trailer overturned the man. After the work team managed to lift the trailer, the man could be pulled forward, but his life could not be saved.

According to prosecutor Roger Olsson, the wrong equipment was used and anchored in the wrong way.

The company’s CEO and deputy CEO are both convicted of work environment violations. The person who operated the crane truck is convicted of causing the death of another when, according to the district court, he took a risk that he should have understood “could lead to an accident”.

The company must also pay one million kroner in corporate fines.
