Finnish captain of the Florida Panthers Alexander Barkov stole the show of the night in the NHL round, when the Panthers beat the New York Rangers, one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, 4–2 in an away match.
Barkov’s skill was seen especially midway through the second period when he took possession of a bouncing puck, bounced it once in the air by a defender by K’Andre Miller past and passed the game tool For Sam Reinhart just before the Rangers striker by Vincent Trocheck brokerage firm.
Reinhart easily completed his 25th power play goal of the season.
The duo who explain Rangers’ matches for US television Sam Rosen and Joe Micheletti unanimously praised the performance of the Finnish center. Experienced puck voices glowed that Barkov had built the entire goal.
– That is an incredible performance. How do you stop that, Micheletti wondered.
– Look at this! He bounced the puck with his stick, the announcer Rosen tripped.
Barkov, as usual, was modest when asked about his individual performance in the second set.
– Everything happened quickly. I was just trying to make the best possible solution for that place. Fortunately, Reinhart was in the right place, as he always is, and finished the scoring. That wasn’t planned in advance, but that’s how it went, Barkov described his amazing performance in an interview with Bally Sports Florida.
– It was a great performance from him, I just went for the goal. I’m probably as impressed as you are. I had a pretty good vantage point to watch his skill. It was pretty great, that’s kind of expected of him, Reinhart beamed.
– That was a bit like most of his performances. You have to see them as new to really appreciate them. According to an inside joke, we practice those in training, but we don’t really do that. Barkov is a wonderful and talented young man, head coach Paul Maurice described.
A moment later, Barkov passed Reinhart’s 2–1 lead goal. The Finnish center, who is in a great mood, has scored 2+5=7 points in the last three matches. Barkov’s power points of 15+47 for the whole season entitles him to 27th place in the points market of the series.
Reinhart is second in the league’s scoring market with 44+30.
Florida’s young Finnish center Anton Lundell completed the away team’s last goal in an empty Rangers net.
Both teams will battle for victory throughout the regular season, as Florida leads the entire league with 88 points. The Rangers are third in the Eastern Conference with 84 points.
