“A Love Letter to the Fans”

A Love Letter to the Fans

When we think of great sci-fi series, titles like Starship Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica come to mind first. Much less well known is Spacecenter Babylon 5, which was broadcast from 1993 to 1998. However, for many sci-fi fans, the series is among the best representatives of the genre.

There have been repeated attempts to bring Babylon 5 back over the past few years. Last year we reported on a reboot that was to be created for the US broadcaster The CW. Now everything is completely different: Babylon 5 returns, but in form of an animated film.

Sci-Fi Returns: J. Michael Straczynski Announces New Babylon 5 Movie

None other than series creator J. Michael Straczynski shared the good news with fans. The project comes from Warner Bros. Animation and WB Home Entertainment. We’re expecting one classic Babylon 5 story, which should be as rough as it is heartfelt. Straczynski, who wrote the script himself, credits the new Babylon 5 movie as one “Love Letter to the Fans” the series.

Now we can be excited whether Babylon 5 will make the big comeback. If the new film is well received by fans and can introduce a new generation to the sci-fi franchise, there may be more offshoots from Spacecenter in the future. Straczynski is clearly motivated to keep expanding the universe.
