A French box office hit, “Un p’tit truc en plus” was filmed in an ideal region for lovers of greenery, where it is possible to go for a weekend or more.
It’s the cinema hit of the year 2024, when no one saw it coming: since its release on 1er last May, A little something extra panics the French box office counters until reaching first place in the ranking. Thanks to word of mouth and good reviews, Artus’ caring comedy about disability exceeded 10 million admissions, four months after its release.
Supported by Artus, who also appeared in front of the camera, Alice BelAïdi and Clovis Cornillac, as well as by around ten young talents, A little something extra tells the story of a father and his son on the run after a robbery. To escape the police, they infiltrate a summer camp for young adults with disabilities, posing as a resident and his specialized educator. Initially steeped in prejudices, they will be forever changed by this experience.
If you discovered the film in theaters, you probably fell in love with this caring script, its troupe of endearing actors, but also the superb settings in which the film takes place. And if you wish, you too can enjoy a weekend or a stay in this mountainous massif of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
A little something extra was in fact filmed in the Vercors, between the departments of Isère and Drôme, reports the cinema department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Most of the filming took place at a place called Gontier, in Izeron, and in Malleval-en-Vercors to capture the scenes taking place in the gîte (which is in reality an uninhabitable 19th century barn) where we can find an idyllic setting to recharge their batteries and gain some perspective for a weekend or a longer stay.
Other scenes were filmed along the roads of Isère, notably near the Gorges de la Bourne and Cognin-les-Gorges, which provide lush landscapes for the bus scenes. The rowing center seen in the film is in La Sône, in Isère, and the swimming scenes were filmed along the banks of Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, in Drôme. Enough to give you ideas for your next vacation, or an upcoming weekend.
